On Wednesday and Friday 10.30-12.00 during term time.
These sessions are designed to nourish children's imagination and creativity through meaningful, inventive activities.
Weekly sessions will be based on different projects, processes and themes. Children will experiment and play with a range of materials and processes. They will be encouraged to explore their own ideas, as well as look at great artists from Art History and contemporary Artists and practices and use these as a base for exploration in their own artworks.
Children will experience processes such as drawing, painting, mix-media, collage, sculpture and much more. Children will gain the confidence to express their thoughts through their creations and be empowered to create and innovate using diverse inspirations and their own experience.
Katie has worked at Marine Park First School here in Whitley Bay for 18 years as a teaching assistant and a play worker in the out of school club.
All ages welcome. It's £10 a session, sign up for regular weekly classes, or get in touch to arrange a taster session.
During term time we run an After School Art Club.
This is from 3.45pm to 6pm on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, for ages 8-11. It's £15 per session. Children can come a regular day per week, or more if they like!
At our Art Club, children will have access to a range of projects, sculpture, printmaking, painting/drawing and much more. They can choose what medium and project they want to work on, and use a more skill-based approach whilst also making friends with others in their age group.
Our Club is a great opportunity for children to learn and practice a variety of art techniques using an extensive range of materials; through this they truly understand that creativity matters. Our creative environment is encouraging, inclusive and non-competitive. This allows every child to go at their own pace, developing their unique skill-set. Over time, they grow significantly in confidence, expression and creativity. This confidence can change their perception of themselves, as well as the perception others have of them.
